AMAZING BRITISH FILM!!! A brilliant portrayal of the underdog, the outsider showing a grim side to Britain in the glossy 80's. A vividly realistic film that is both very funny and very hard hitting. Like some of the great 60's realism films (Saturday Night, Sunday Morning) This Is England is excellent. The acting, the 80's detail and the soundtrack are spot on.

Love or loathe football... You WILL love this...! This film contains no actors, but documents 5 ordinary men who live doing the thing they love - skills with the football. In this documentary, we see the 5 men travel from New York to Argentina with NO money at all, making all their money by doing the thing they love - performing. This is not just a documentary on football but is a "coming-of-age" documentary, which brings real emotion to the film. One for males, females, kids and adults, I guarentee that you will love it..!

I read the reviews of this film and decided it was worth a shot. This film is beautifully made. Before this film I did not know of Joy Divsion's work but the acting in this film by the major players was excellent. Sam Riley as Curtis is very very good as is Samantha Morton as his downtrodden wife. I thought the guy who played the manager was hilarious. I was convinced that I wouldn't like this but came away feeling that this was an amazing film. Even if you don't like Punk music or Joy Division - go watch. Well worth it.

Great film. my fave in fact! Whoooo! loves it * This film is OFFICIALLY a modern classic, when I first placed this DVD into my DVD player, I did not know what to expect, I hated it first viewing, but after my 2nd viewing I realised how amazing this film really is. Film everyone should see before they die!-FACT!
Cast Away 5. Cast Away PG-13 5.0 Stars
When I really stop and think about it, the film is brilliantly executed. The scenery is absolutely breath taking, the special effects are so well done that you don't even realize that there are special effects present. This seems to be a trademark of Robert Zemeckis (case and point, "Forrest Gump"). The acting is very good, although, there's only 2 real sources of acting in this film, Tom Hanks and Helen Hunt. The rest of the cast was good, but their roles were very minor. Tom Hanks pulls off another great performance, as usual. You really can feel all of his emotions while he's stuck on the island. Also, not many actors have changed their physical appearance like Tom Hanks did for this film, I truly applaud him for his work. As much as I liked Russell Crow in "Gladiator", I firmly believe that Tom Hanks deserved it more (although that would be his third Oscar). Helen Hunt also pulls off a very nice performance. There is also a good deal of comedy in the film, and it is done very well. This is one of the few films that I strongly recommend you watch. There aren't a great many films that I would say this, but this one I would. Although...if you aren't a fan of Tom Hanks, then you might have some trouble with this film because a great deal of the film is him alone on an island. So, if that is the case, then you are off the hook. So, I hope you watch the film, and I hope that you enjoy it.

Funny and scary... what more do u want..,best film of 2006.. This is a KEY example of what British comedy's shoud be like. Also this film is a horror, but is not the scarest film you'll ever see! But I feel this film should have done much better at the box office. A different, yet compelling British film

With an interesting cast and hardcore performances comes a good cop thriller that nearly feels realistic.

There is nothing moral or politically correct about this movie... its all about being a bad ass, corruption and loyalty to your fellow officers. But what happens if you fall in so deep, while being an alcoholic and having the rep of being the most violent cop on town, with Internal Affairs breathing down your back.... what do you do?? Especially when you are implicated in your old partner's brutal assassination. Especially when your old partner was ratting you out to Internal Affairs. Thats motive, mate.

Anyways, welcome to the dark side of law enforcement. Even when the scenes are during the day, it still feels like it is dark as night... or dark as evil. We once again see the lines between law and justice blurred with illegality, meet cops who are experts are walking the tightrope of corruption.

Im not a Keanu Reeves fan, but he did OKAY in the movie. But its most probably because I liked the whole idea of the movie itself. The other cast of course are excellent, from Forest Whitaker, Hugh Laurie (HOUSE! XD) and surprisingly, Chris Evans, whom I usually think is just another short stripping wannabe, but he may have some talent after all.

Anyways, the movie is not too brutal, a bit graphic, but we've seen much worse. Also, I don't think its been pushed as far as it could have gone. This movie had so much potential... but its flawed. It comes on hard... then backs off as if the Director was scared to go over the edge. It doesn't finish real well, which is disappointing and nothing really stands out. Except for the fact that this is a really dirty cop movie, which is the reason I'm drawn to it.

Its a movie that made a big splash when it came out, due to minimal but effective marketing but will (probably already has), disappeared into the wilderness of Hollywood movies that come and go.

Watch it once, and then it automatically leaves your mind the next day.

    Secret Window Secret Window
    5.0 Stars by Jack
Depp is definitely the highlight of the movie, which is good since he's the character the movie revolves around. He creates Rainey just as completely as he created Captain Jack Sparrow Pirates of the Caribbean. In interacting with his ex-wife (Maria Bello) we can see the pain and the love he still holds for her. Rainey's spats with her boyfriend Ted (Timothy Hutton) show his anger. Yet none of that holds a candle to his conversations with himself. Rainey spends at least a third of the film alone, but we never feel that he's isolated. Out-of-nowhere quips and commentary about the situations Rainey finds himself in provide real depth to Rainey as a struggling writer. That is where the real genius of Depp's work on this character comes from.

Playing the nemesis to Rainey is John Turturro, hidden in the character of John Shooter, a farmer from Mississippi who claims Rainey stole his story and released it as a short entitled "Secret Window". Shooter gives a deadline for Rainey to prove he wrote it first and warns him to keep the subject just between the two of them. When Rainey fails to do so, Shooter becomes calmly psychotic, taking action to keep Rainey where he wants him, but always with a self-justified demeanor when appearing on screen. He presents himself as a man who is confident that he is right and will go to any lengths to show that he has been wronged, including eliminating Rainey's entire world if that's what it takes. His dedication becomes more frightening as the movie evolves, especially as he warns Rainey to be careful in proving him wrong, because if he is wrong, then he must be crazy, and as a crazy man he might really be dangerous.

Writer/Director David Koepp (writer of Spider-Man and Jurassic Park and director of Stir of Echoes) does an excellent job of bringing Secret Window to the screen. On the writing side he has taken a short story by Stephen King and created a strong and suspenseful plot, highlighted by complete and memorable characters as a solid base for his actors to work with. On the directorial side, he understands how a psychological thriller should work and makes his movie follow those rules. The movie builds just as a story of this type should and the audience is never ahead of the movie. To ensure this, the movie holds a Shyamalan-size twist that I won't even hint at, but that makes perfect sense as it's revealed.

Secret Window is a fantastic foray into the front of psychological thrillers, a front that too many movies fail in attempting. With Koepp's storytelling and Depp's ingenious acting abilities, this is a film that will keep audiences interested and on the edge of their seats as the story unfolds.

This is an excellent piece of drama, which delves into the skewered world of the legal and penal system. Injustice is rife... emotions and humanity is nil. I guess this is one of the best prison movies you will ever see.

Honestly, it is a dark, sad tale of our system failing an honest man and his family. And when he serves his sentence, we see how his life is torn apart over and over again... to breaking point. Along the way, he befriends a "lifer" who schools him in the way of prison life and the rules to survive in the pen. One a hardened con with no chance, another grasping at the last straws of hope and humanity... before the corrupt prison guards and the other cons turn him into an animal with a number.

Im a student of criminology and the legal system, and have strong views on punishment. This is a great example of the system corrupt, humanity, honesty and morality lost on both sides of the law. It makes you wonder how can we live in a society when we fail those who fall wayward of our rules, so that they do not learn, they do not accept responsibility, they do not repent? And of course, what happens when the people we entrust to uphold our laws and serve us and the inmates, fail at their duty?

It is said that our society can be judged and evaluated according to how we run our prisons. Obviously this is not a 100% accurate view of our prisons... but Im sure that its not far off. Which kinda makes me very nervous.

I am a big Dorff and Kilmer fan, both have my respects as great actors, very underrated. They noth are all class and talent, thats why they make movies like this. Their performances were great. Kilmer stole the show as the devastated, cold, brutal Smith, a man with no future, forever indebted to serve his time and suffer a great emotional injustice... which is not recieving the death penalty so that he can reunite with his dead family. A philosopher and mentor, respected and feared by his peers, Kilmer is excellent (though he has aged terribly)

Anyways, its hardcore raw film-making. Handheld cameras are used a lot, but I thought it gave it a realistic effect to the whole nature of the movie. It picked up pace real quick in the beginning, and moves fast, so its not boring at all. It does explore the nature of being human, a criminal, and our conceptions of justice and law... and then simply, what is right or wrong. Halfway through, it became simpler, and I guess this enabled it to finish strongly with a happy ending.

Remember, this is just a story, but as we had Prison Break on TV purely for entertainment, Felon is entertaining but also wakes us up and makes us see and feel what men go through in prison, how life is drastically different to our world.

Everyone's favourite, cigar smoking, horned. giant red monkey is back!

    XD

Im a big Guilmero Del Toro fan, and after the huge success and the painstaking effort of Pan's Labyrinth, its good to see him kick back and make something more enjoyable to the masses....

I firmly believed the original Hellboy movie to be one of the best comic to movie adaptations ever. As far as sequels go, tits more looser, funnier and enjoyable. I guess because of its outlandish idea and the great background story makes this work... plus the fact its enjoyable and it comes through the performances of the stars and the overall movie itself. Its not as great as the first... but its a definite keeper.

I mean come on, Hellboy and Sabian getting drunk and singing "Can't Live without you" together... this is purely entertainment value and it doesn't fails... it has its dramatic bits, while serving up some traditional whoop ass.

Of course, Del Toro's costumes and graphic designs are the key players... and its awesome. Jim Henson has nothing on him when it comes to the abnormal.

Anyways, for me, the movie works. The right amount of thrills, kills and monster costumes... some were laughable, but they looked real good. The music was good, atmospheric and worked well. The stunts and action were top notch.... see it for yourself.

Anyways, the only thing was the story did drag in a few places, but thats the way it is. And I'm glad that Del Toro left the movie open for a possible sequel.... the destiny of Hellboy is still in doubt, plus that other "little" surprises. XD

Anyways, what made me give it four stars? Pretty much I dont mind watching this again. Its got good rewatch value, its definitely not boring for 90% of the time.

    Enjoy!

It brings back memories of playing the original nintendo system; of blowing on the video cassette when it got messed up or pushing the power button until it worked and playing Duck Hunt, Mario Bros., Double Dragon and other 2D games of that era.
If you were born in the 80s or were around in the 80s then you must remember this. It was about a boy (Fred Savage) who takes his little brother on a cross country trip to play in a video game competition.

    The Matador The Matador
    2.0 Stars by Jack
"The Matador" is a simple, straightforward film that breaks down into two acts, Julian and Greg in Mexico City, and Julian, Greg, and Greg's wife Bean (Hope Davis) in Denver 6 months later. The ending and resolution to Julian's problems are not really all that important, because the film is about the interaction between the film's primary characters played by Kinnear and Brosnan. The two men do great work, first in their awkward meeting in the hotel lobby bar, then later during a lengthy sequence where Julian teaches Danny the tricks of the trade, namely how to set up, and then take out, the target. "The Matador" is essentially a 3-person play with Julian, Danny, and later on, Bean.

Sold as a comedy, "The Matador" isn't laugh out loud funny enough to be called funny. The more appropriate description might be amusing. There aren't any major punch lines to be had, and although the film elicits a few chuckles here and there, it's really not written by Shepard as a "hijinks ensue" type of movie. And unlike Cusack's "Grosse Pointe Blank", Shepard's movie is almost completely devoid of action. We see Julian take aim with his weapons throughout the movie, but there is never any blood shown onscreen. In fact, the whole profession of assassination is treated like just another job to be performed by someone with a low morale threshold. As with "Grosse Pointe", "The Matador's" best moments involve people reacting casually to Julian's profession, as if they stumble across international assassins at least once a week.

"The Matador" is worth watching just to see Pierce Brosnan dump his suave 007 persona for a character that is rather despicable, although despicable and affable at the same time, if such a thing is possible. Julian likes his women young, his liquor doubled, and his sex paid for. Yet, despite his many, many scruples (he readily admits he's a prick), when offered a job to kill someone, he refuses for the client's sake. As the Ned Flanders to Julian's Homer Simpson, Greg Kinnear does a fine job, but it's nothing he hasn't done in other movies. As such, Kinnear's Danny doesn't quite stand out as much as Brosnan's Julian, and I suspect that's why Brosnan chose the role in the first place. It allows him to stretch, to show his comedic flair, and who better than straight-laced Greg Kinnear to play against?

"The Matador" isn't a great movie, which may seem like a strange thing to say after all the time I've spent in this review praising Brosnan and Kinnear's performances. To be sure, the rapport between the two men is undeniable and is really what makes the film as worthwhile as it is. The same with Hope Davis, who easily steals the show when her character gets more than a cameo appearance in the second half. Still, there's this nagging feeling that "The Matador" is a retread, and the film never really manages to convince otherwise. Plus, the fact that it's a movie about a hitman, and there are no action scenes whatsoever, is somewhat disappointing.
    Not worth watching.

Certainly the only movie to match or even better its predecessor.

The Godfather 2 carries on after the Five Families War, and the Corleones are now unchallengeable and control all the gmabling in the US, their home base in Nevada. Michael Corleone is trying to legitimise his family and power, but the dark underworld begins to pull him back in, and soon he is forced to unleash the the full force of his power and tactical genius inherited from his famous father. But the bloody war in the underworld is only half the problem, as Michael struggles to also save his family from destruction, and makes the most damaging choices of his life that will haunt him forever.

Through the movie, we flash back to the early 1900's, we see Vito Andolini arrive in the US and become the legendary Vito Corleone, the GODFATHER, and his rise to power and quest for revenge against the Don responsible for his family's death. Struggling in the streets as a child and growing up with his best friend Genco Abandando, young Vito meets and befriends the young Clemenza and Tessio and all together, they form a friendship and Family that will become the most powerful Family in the United States.

Anyways... .what can I say?? Pure brilliance. I managed to get the Coppola Restoration box set, and the experience is...... unimaginably perfect. I cannot stress how GOOD this new box set is compared to the predecessors. It is without a doubt, the DVD collection of all time.

Certainly the movies to watch before you die.

Basically this is about a stoner that doesn't work and hasn't really got a penny to his name, all he does is smoke weed and has made a website about, as they call it 'boobs n bush' with he stoner friends. he ends up having a one night stand with this girl. A really prim and proper girl, doesn't smoke weed and has a good job. His total opposite! He gets her preggers and she's devistated but he works really hard in having a relationship with her and they end up falling in love blah blah blah and having a baby, simple as that.

I've rated it so high because i did find it quite funny, stoner guys are funny, well i think they are.

Yeah, this was a great action sleeper like I predicted. Simple, straightforward, and of course... bad to the bone.

It was cool watching Liam Neeson play the bad ass like he did in Batman Begins, tearing up Paris in search of his daughter, and kicking ass real good, young action actors like Bale and Damon should be wary of the older guys, they can still whoop ass. And in Neeson's case, whooping ass was just the beginning.

Anyways, If you are a Luc Besson fan, of course you would love this. In the tradition of all his movies such as The Transporter series and Unleashed, and with some nice touch's from The Bourne series and other flicks like Ronin, this is a really solid and well crafted movie.

Basically, as an estranged, paranoid and slightly unstable ex-covert operative, Neeson is trying to rebuild his life with his daughter and reluctantly consents to her taking a trip to Paris with a friend. But as soon as she gets there, she is kidnapped by a group dealing in human slave trade.

With time running out and very little clues, Neeson takes the first plane out and begins to deliver on the promise he made to the kidnappers, namely to search, find and kill them.

And he does. With a extreme prejudice. Emphasis on extreme.

Its not a matter graphical violence and claret painting the street red, rather its Neeson's excellent performance and the cold, unnatural brutality and his relentless hunt which carries the movie through. And mixed with some real good action, you will enjoy it. No fancy wire work or unbelievable stunts, just good, effective action based on a realist view.

I loved the hand to hand fight in the end with the Arab knife man, it ranks high on my action list, but pretty much its like seeing Jason Bourne or Jason Statham in action. Im not gonna toss in my opinion on which is better,...

but this is the dark horse action flick of the year. Its not about the box office and the hype, its all about the movie. It does seem similar to the movies I mentioned above, but the simplicity and the dark theme surrounding it, plus Neeson's craftmanship makes it stand out.

A well done summer blockbuster, but at the center of this richly dark thriller rests some serious existential questions and reflections.

The anarchic Joker takes the broadly understood notions of meaning held by most people and places them at odds with one another. He lacks "reasons" (or reason), which might be the most frighteningly captivating aspect of the film, especially when juxtaposed against the incorruptible Batman. What we ultimately see are not two ends of a spectrum, but rather two sides of the same coin (ha! look at that Two-Face reference! didn't even see that one coming, did you?).

These deeper undertones help to sustain interest and lessen the damage from some of the weaker aspects of the film.

Read some Dostoevsky, Camus, or Kafka before and/or after watching this film; it might help to draw out some of the more profound ideas at play.
    ____________________

Heath Ledger gives a haunting last performance as the Joker, showing his fans the talent that could've been had his life not been cut short. Nolan's depiction of Gotham City's infamous anarchaic villian is unique as "The Joker" displays himself as the deranged psychopath he really is, no reason to act violent? I mean do people really think so? If it wasn't in the film, it doesn't mean there is no reason. Heath Ledger's performance isn't comparable to anyone else who has played The Joker (in the films).

Christian Bale was one of the best Batman performancesd yet again, disguising his voice while being Batman was probably the smartest move on Nolan's side, few people didn't like the idea... I call them STUPID! you actually never read the comics and open your shitty bloody mouths. Great Bale yet again, although he seemed somewhat 2dimensional in certain cases.

Morgan Freeman, and Michael Caine return along with Maggie Glynennhall (which was utterly crap in my opinion) and Anthony Michael Hall among others. The acting is once again great along with some brillant fighting sequences and technology built for Batman.
    ____________________

The best thing in the whole film was, the fact that it kept the viewer at the edge-of-the-seat, in those emotionally harrowing moments. It could even be said, and most would probably agree, that The Dark Knight is one of the tensest films ever made. Damn, if Batman had to be killed I wouldn't be surprised!

This isn't the regular comic-book turned film, it's a complex and engaging thriller, much closer to the film Heat in terms of style than to an action blockbuster like Spider-Man. The characters are so thickly layered that their development throughout the film is almost startling. Everyone has their moment to shine. Everyone has a story to be told. And everyone gets a payoff at the end.

The ending will leave you wondering "how the hell can they follow that with a sequel?"

Overall, The Dark Knight is Christopher Nolan's masterpiece. It is to the current generation what the original Batman film was to the 80s generation.

Can't complain, it captured a good combination of the original Batman animated series (the early 90s) with the dramatic content of Batman Begins story. Kevin Conroy returns as the voice of the Dark Knight, he was the voice back in the 90's for the animated series.

This film reminds me of Vantage Point because of the whole separation of the stories withing the movie. I like that concept; even though the stories are separated they are all connected amazingly well in each of there own unique ways. It's almost like it was done by one director to some degree. Even though they were animated by 6 different Japanese Directors. I would have to say that this film has it's own unique style(s).

Each astonishing concept/segment brings new depth and color to the Batman Begins world. And makes me joyful to see the New movie the Dark Knight.

People who love anime will and should love this. Such as the Animatrix but better! But for those not familiar with the concept you need to realize this film is PG-13, with gore included :P
A good American/Japanese anime collaboration which no Batman fan should miss. It falls just a little short for the gritty dark representation present on the previous films.

    *Possible spoilers ahead*

After a year and a half long wait, the sequel to the brilliant Batman Begins(2005), is finally here and boy did I enjoy it! It surpasses all my expectations and is FAR SUPERIOR to Begins. A Sequel which is far better and will be remembered for doing so. I you thought Begins was good, you will be plesently suprised. The Dark knight is as great as everyone says it is and more I'm still finding the words to describe even several days after watching it.

Yes, before I started watching the film, I knew Heath Ledger's perfromance would be amazing in the role of the Joker, and I was right. I have to admit that it didn't suprise me one bit. The time that he took to perfect his rol and the perfection in his voice, mannerisms and behaviour is just outstanding. He's created a character that's incredibly menacing and even in a 12A film, scary to watch. I'm sure he'll receive a post homours Oscar nomation, winning it I'm not so sure. It'll be down to whether the Academy can avoid the snobbery that they have over blockbuster films winning at the Oscars. He's character was also very funny and had several one liners, which I did laugh at. I don't think I'll ever forget his performance. It'll always be in my top five of all time.

Christian Bale repises his role as the caped crusader and has obtained a far huskier voice, which was great to hear. Bale is now my favourite Batman and I'm sure others would agree. Even as Bruce Wayne he oozes coolness in every scene he's in. His Batman is far darker than many previously and makes for a great character to watch.Bale also plays he's character tremendouly well and should be given credit for that, Also worth mentioning Aaron Eckhart's tremendous perfromance as two-facem who I didn't think would be good at all. Worth mentioniong Gary Oldman's Lt Gordon, Maggie Glyyenhaal's and Morgan Freeman's perfromance aswell, who all delivered fine performances. I'd really like to see Bale get some sort of credit for his performance, as it really was great.

The Dark Knight's cinematography was absolutly breathtaking to watch. In particular the sublime, opening sequence, which was inspired by Heat-which you can see . The colours, and sequences filmed just added a little realism to the films, giving it that post 9/11 feel. It also adds a little fear to the viewer, for instance in the Mayot's funeral. It drwas upon real events, which is just superb. Talking of superbm that Opening sequence was outstanding to watch. One of my favourite shots was one of the Joker, in the middle of the street, in almost a God like stance. Everything in the scene is quite shocking to watch. The joker and his henchman don't just feel like characters in a film-where you can just write them off. These characters really feel real and the sounds of the guns shots, in this scene only emphathises this. One classic line which I won't forget by the Joker.

I believe what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger..

The screenplay in the Dark Knight has to be one of the finest that I've seen for a summer blockbuster...since..well forever. It is obviously responsible for some great lines in the film. The scenes with the Joker and Batmanl, for instance-The iterrogation scene. I'm sure the screenplay will be up for an Oscar ans it is one of the best parts of the film for me. Loved this line from Alfred..

Some men just want to watch the world burn!

Nolan has now set the bar for Great summer blocckbusters. Everything in the film is FLAWLESS. The running time of nearly 3 hours flew b. His direction is absoulty outstanding. I just hope BAFTA award him with a Best Director nod next year.

The Dark Knight contains some amazing camer shots. For instance, as I mentioned before-that opening shot of the Jokers-WOW. One sequence towards the end, was just sensational to watch. I just hope this is the start of great summer blockbusters to come.

The score by Hans Zimmer is just sensational to hear. Every single piece of music livens up every scene and just get an absoulte buzz, when you watch it. You can;t help but cheers and smile when you hear part of that score. Just mesmerising. I hope it gets awarded at next years Oscars aswell.

I really think the editing is one of the sucess points of the film. The pinning together of some scenes , two or three at some stages really addes tension to the scene and sheer joy for the viewer. This adds to the experience and really makes it one hell of an enoyable experience.

Overall The Dark Knight is an absoulte MASTERPIECE. Filled with sublime acting, cinematorgpahy, excellent editing, screenplay. Expect the Dark Knight to receive several BAFTA noms and some OSCARS noms. I can't tell you how great this film is and how musch I enjoyed it. You must go along and see it for yourself.

    Oustanding.

    Highly recomended

    10/10
I know what you are thinking..." well I'm seeing it soon"....well I have to recomend it as it was simply oustanding..

Well again we have the year of the sequels - Indy, X files, Hellboy, the Mummy3. And Prequel (I saw the trailer for the Clone Wars)

And again we have the year of the Hype. Though this year there has been too much talk and hot air for my tastes, and it stinks and bad after taste is usually the end result. Indiana Jones... kaput. IPhone... meh. The Dark Knight?? Well, lets see what i have to say in my review.

Now, I don't hand out 5 stars like some typical know-nothing movie goer... it takes a lot to impress me. When I first heared that Heath Ledger was gonna play The Joker a couple years back, I was kinda skeptical. I mean, Im a fan of Heath, I saw him rise in fame and the movies from his beginning... and I thought, naaah, he certainly couldnt pull it off to my expectations. Jack Nicholson topped a few bad guy lists back since 1991, it was usually a toss up between him and Big Arnie (Terminator) and maybe Tony Montana. Everyone had varied views. And when it comes to bad guys, Im probably one of the most critical. I love bad guys, bad ass and a disappointing bad guy can ruin the entire film.

But Im glad to say that I was wrong. Though there are a few similarities to Ole Jack's Joker, it was a different Joker on the screen which stole the show. And pretty much I loved every second of it. Its a great shame Heath died, this would have solidified his reputation as one of the best actors for the rest of his career. Noone else could have pulled the Joker off with such conviction it scared a few movie goers. But then again, I kinda suspect that Heath died due to overdosing on meds, because seriously, a role like that could drive anyone insane. But whats done is done and gone... and this would be his greatest legacy. (Aside from his little girl)

Christian Bale, Aaron Eckhart, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine... the A-list cast of the year. Im sure you are all familiar with all of them except Aaron Eckhart, who completed the trio. He is the anti-Batman and Joker character both as Harvey Dent and Two-Face... he brought a balance to the movie and a great character to the screen... a hero who fell. A great concept.

Well anyways, the movie itself. Now, I have a concept about certain movies like this. I call them "Dangerous" movies... for the obvious reason. I LOVE DANGEROUS MOVIES. This is the most dangerous movie of the year. The decade?? The original Batman was voted the movie of the 1980's. The Dark Knight the movie of the 2000's?? Yeah why not? It certainly gets my vote for the most dangerous movie of the 2000's. Some would say Rambo instead, but it takes more than just graphic violence and body bits to make a dangerous movie, it takes great acting, directing, no expectation and all surprise and shock beyond normality. The Dark Knight is all that and then some - thanks to Chris Nolan and Heath. Then throw in a little bit of humor and some great cinematics (and with tanker loads of dynamite and gasoline XD)... and some good classic moments which define the action/thriller genre (I loved it when the Joker pulls out the rocket launcher to teach some smart assed cops that you never underestimate the Clown Prince of Crime - he will ALWAYS have a bigger gun)

It was a dark flick... but then again, its Batman, so don't complain. It was long... but hey, if the massess can sit for 3 hours plus for Lord of the Rings (3 times) and the Harry Potter series (around 7 times for the whole series) then why should people complain? Id rather sit for three hours and watch a modern masterpiece of comic book legends I grew up with rather than a series of books of a boy wizard I have no love for.... and I won't criticise LOTR, but I wouldn't even need to flip the coin. It would be Batman every single time. So no, the usual grip that people have about the length... no it wasnt a problem for me.

Anyways... this movie has set many levels and standards, and it would be interesting to see how future movies would compare, as far as the artistry is concerned. Cause this is a definite top 10 movie for any serious movie buff.

As Im typing this, The Dark Knight in it's opening week made 158Mil in the US. and its number 225 in the top 250 of all time box office list WORLDWIDE. Let see how its goes for the next month eh? ^___^

Anyways... there is only one movie this year in my eyes which can hope to win the battle of the sequels now (I saw the trailer at the Dark Knight). Come November 27th, Bond is planning to take down The Dark Knight. 007 for the new millenium is a bad ass, so don't think its gonna take this lying down. For those of you who think Bond couldn't possibly beat the Dark Knight this year... well the numbers show that 007 wins out. And after the mega success of Casino Royale, and watching the trailer of Quantum of Solace, the pairing of Rocky vs Muhammed Ali is nothing compared to this showdown. And I love a great fight.

And right now, the Mummy 3 and Hellboy 2 two are arm wrestling over the action/adventure of the year title. Its a great time for movies people.
This movie restores my belief and hope for great sequels. And for a kick ass, shock stun and mind blowing cinematic experience.

Not Will Smith's best movie, but its not really him, its just the fact that was an easy going, enjoyable flick to watch over and over again. XD!!

A real twist of the superhero movie, with some twist and turns, and some great lines and its funny enough... its a good night out, and something people would love to watch. I guess Will Smith and Charlize are the kind of actors people love to watch on screen, they make it look so easy and they are comfortable, which is why the movie pulls it off so well.

Anyways, not much detail for review needed here, its a simple movie to watch, great performances, good jokes and moments, and something out of the ordinary. Which is something I guess all of us would like to see more of these days in the movies.

    A real unique movie.
Hey, you should really see this!
